age 89, of Lakewood, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021. Vince was born June 17, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio. Beloved son of Domenic and Theresa (nee Prioletti) (both deceased). Devoted husband of the late Amelia "Millie" (nee Vedova), loving father of Anne (Joe, deceased) (fiance, John Idemoto) Agozzino, Terry (Doug) Koch, Toni (Rich) Hyland-Romell, and Gina (Dan) Moore, dearest grandfather of Lia (Micah) Pickel, Charlie Agozzino, Rocky (Kassie) Agozzino, Lee Koch, Christian (Lacey) Koch, Dan (Michelle) Hyland, Michael (Alicia) Hyland, Vincent (Emily) Hyland, Terry Hyland, Alex Moore and Molly Moore, Great Grandfather of 14, dear brother of Ralph (deceased) (wife Christine, deceased) and John (deceased) (wife Ann) and dear friend of many, especially Ray Anthony and the State of Ohio Wrestling Officials. Vince was employed at The Cleveland Plain Dealer for over 40 years in their Art Department. He drew portraits and caricatures for the front cover of the PD TV listing book and the Friday PD Action Tab. He retired as Chief Executive Artist. He was the creators of many logos, including the recently retired Chief Wahoo, as well as the Ohio High School Athletic Association logo, the past St. Edward High School sports logo, the St. Ignatius Wildcat logo, and the Ohio Wrestling Officials Association logo. Vince was an avid supporter of Ohio Wrestling. He was one of six State Champs on the 1951 West High School State Championship Wrestling Team. He was involved in Ohio Wrestling for over 60 years as a State Official and State of Ohio Rules Interpreter. He was well respected and loved by many, and considered the Godfather of Ohio Wrestling. Also, he has been inducted into the Ohio Wrestling Hall of Fame, as well as the National Wrestling Hall of Fame, and received the Western Reserve Wrestling Officials Association Legend Award for his contributions to the sport. Vince was also instrumental in helping to establish the Ohio Wrestling Officials Association (OWOA). There is also an annual award, given by the OWOA, called the Vince Matteucci Person of the Year Award. Family will receive friends Friday, January 7, 2022, from 10 am to 12 pm at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 6928 Detroit Ave., Cleveland, Ohio 44102, followed by a funeral Mass at 12 pm. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Avon, Ohio.
